Context
This song looks at an issue every player on The Isle knows: Drinking can be deadly. And no, I am not speaking of bacteria. The threat is much bigger, nastier and can drag all but the heaviest of dinosaurs to a watery grave. Deinosuchus. The teeth of the river!
WHEN THE EARTH TREMBLES
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
The scorching sun has dried the land,
Left dust and death upon the sand.
The smallest flee, the hunters roam,
All searching for the waters' home.
A raptor creeps through tangled reeds,
A carno follows desperate needs.
For once, both share a common fear,
The water's close... but death is near.
The river lies so calm and deep,
Where ancient, hungry shadows sleep.
Yet thirst will drive them to the shore,
And some will never drink once more.
[Pre-Chorus]
One step closer, one last glance,
Every drink's a deadly chance.
The water's still, the coast seems clear...
But something knows that you are here.
[Chorus]
Drink if you dare! Cross if you must!
The river hides its hunger beneath the mud and dust!
One little ripple, one flash of white,
And the water comes alive tonight!
RUN IF YOU CAN! SCREAM IF YOU WILL!
The jaws beneath the surface are waiting to kill!
Your thirst has brought you to his feast,
BEWARE THE RIVER! THE RIVER HAS TEETH!
[Verse 2]
He lies beneath the murky green,
A living nightmare, rarely seen.
A mountain clad in armored hide,
With ancient hunger locked inside.
No need to chase, no need to roam,
The muddy depths are all his home.
For every beast must drink someday,
And thirst will bring his food his way.
A careless step, a lowered head,
One heartbeat living, the next one dead.
The surface breaks! The jaws slam tight!
A thunderous splash disturbs the night!
[Pre-Chorus]
No time to run, no chance to cry,
The muddy water fills the sky!
A twisting roll, a final breath...
Then silence marks another death.
[Verse 3]
Beyond the stream, the grass grows tall,
But crossing means to risk it all.
The herd moves slowly, side by side,
Their bodies trembling in the tide.
The young ones struggle through the flow,
Not knowing what lurks down below.
A sudden surge, a mighty snap,
Another life caught in the trap.
Only the giants, vast and strong,
May wade where smaller beasts go wrong.
Yet even they must watch their feet,
For death still lurks down in the deep.
And on the bank, the hunters stare,
At empty water, cold and bare.
For there are things that hunt the land...
And things that end you where you stand.
[Outro]
The hunter becomes the hunted!
The strong become the weak!
All must kneel before the water...
FOR THE RIVER HAS TEETH!
