Context
Hours spent being careful, dodging hunters, surviving and growing, all gone with one unwise decission. A regular and quite normal occurance and part of the gameplay loop for The Isle. While that can be frustrating I tried keeping the song lighthearted.
TINY AGAIN
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I was born beneath the brambles, with the grass above my head,
And a very useful instinct that said, “Hide, or end up dead.”
Every mouthful was a mission, every clearing was a test,
And the roots became familiar where I curled up for a rest.
Slowly legs grew long and steady; slowly squeaks became a roar,
Till the roots that used to hide me couldn’t hide me anymore.
I had hours of good decisions. I was finally fit to win—
Then I heard a distant scuffle,
And decided to join in.
[Pre-Chorus]
“I can take him,” I said proudly.
Then his friends came into view.
I had planned on one opponent.
He’d invited quite a few.
[Chorus]
Tiny again, with the grass overhead,
So much for all of those brave things I said!
Hours of growing, one moment of pride—
Back to a bush and a good place to hide!
Tiny again, but I’m back on my feet,
Less of a terror and more of a treat!
Lost all my thunder, but one thing is true:
I’ve got a whole lot of growing to do!
[Verse 2]
I remember being mighty. I remember standing tall.
Now a puddle has a shoreline and a fern’s a fortress wall.
I’ve got very little body and an awful lot to say,
But my terrifying warning makes a beetle walk away.
Then a shadow falls beside me, and a voice says, “Look at you!
I was saving you some supper. Guess a mouthful now will do.”
They settle down beside me, keeping watch beneath the trees,
And my little world feels safer with their breathing on the breeze.
[Bridge]
For a moment, all those hours
Felt like time I’d thrown away.
Then you nudged a little supper
To the spot where I still lay.
Now there’s warmth beneath the branches,
Now there’s someone waiting near,
And I finish off my mouthful.
“All right, then. I’m still here.”
[Verse 3]
Little bites and little footsteps, little naps beneath the fern,
With a few familiar lessons I apparently must learn.
I can wait to shake the valley. I can wait to own the view.
For tonight, this bush is roomy,
And there’s supper here with you.
[Final Chorus]
Tiny again, with the grass overhead,
Still here to laugh at those brave things I said!
Hours of growing, one moment of pride—
Back to a bush with a friend at my side!
Tiny again, but I’m back on my feet,
Less of a terror and more of a treat!
Lost all my thunder, but here next to you,
I’ve got a whole lot of growing to do!
